Michael Woodward has worked in the licensing and publishing industry
in
the U.K. and U.S. for over 25 years.
He now lives in Florida and works as a
consultant. He also conducts seminars on licensing.
Art Licensing International Inc formed in 1986-present
From January 2001 semi-retired to live in Florida to
launch Consultancy business
and to give seminars to the artist's community and to promote a home study
course
to help artists and illustrators manage their own licensing programme.
Michael Woodward Creations . . .1979-2000
Formed one of the first Art Licensing Companies in
the UK representing artists,
illustrators and photographers as Managing Director.
Established major accounts with international publishers such as Athena
International (posters prints, greeting cards); Hallmark (greeting cards);
American Greetings (greeting cards); Nestle (formerly Rowntree Macintosh);
Scandecor (posters); Verkerke (posters); Bradford Exchange (collector plates);
Franklin Mint (collector plates) and many other major international manufacturers.
1996
Developed Rambling Ted as a design property . Had such
a good response and
developed a strong licensing programme A pilot was produced. Signed a deal
with Varga a major European animation production company to produce a new
more sophisticated pilot. This was completed early 1999. since then negotiations
have been in hand with several major broadcasters and partners. Licensing
program has already produced around $40 million in retail sales. Has licensed
over $600,000,000 in retail products
1994
Developed first pilot for TV series Kit'n' Kin
1991
Started to develop intellectual property first
project Teddy Tum Tum. Had a good
success with a major chocolate license as well as other licenses for stationery;
t-shirts;
greeting cards; calendars; toiletries; plush toys etc. Royalty income generated
was approx
$750,000.
Photo Library International . . . . . . 1974-79
Formed first Photo library in North of England licensing
stock photography to
advertising agencies and manufacturers. Started with $150 capital and built
turnover to $150,000 in '78 . Sold out to partner in 1979.Duties promoting,
selling, selecting images and generally managing the company .
Kevin Horgan Photography . . . . . . 1973-79
Started repping for studio finding new clients in advertising,corporate
brochures
etc. Developed studio and brought in new photographers. Managed studio along
with Photo library. Booked models ,props,prepared quotations and negotiated
fees, invoicing .
Ziggy Models. . . . . . 1969-74
Formed model agency and disc jockey school. Ran grooming
and modeling
courses. Provided promotion girls for campaigns, models for advertising
and
fashion shows. Character models and children for photographic shoots. Go-go
girls and disc jockeys for night clubs. Sold agency in 1976. Agency carried
on until around '88. Duties managing ,interviewing, photography, screen
testing
and finding new clients.
