The joy and beauty of the wild and natural areas of the environment are the inspiration for the artworks of Kristen S Boyesen.
The artist grew up north of the Adirondacks in rural New York state, where she enjoyed participating in family camping and outdoor activities. At age 13 she received her first formal art instruction in an adult 'plein air' summer art group under the tutelage of Curtis Stocking of Purdue University. She graduated from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 1973, and returned in 1993 as an adjunct instructor in the art department.
Her artworks have been in more than 25 one-person exhibitions and have earned numerous awards in New York and Ohio, including "Best of Show."
