I am an expressionist painter. My creations are influenced
by the master painter van Gogh, the Fauves and the expressionists. I love
to paint
with intense color. I have a passion for painting which has over 10 years of
sustained effort. I have learned, from my teacher Benny Barrios (of Sacramento),
much of composition. It is with this pure enjoyment of creating that adds much
to my enjoyment of life. I go out, periodically, and take digital photos of
motifs that interest me; these are of people and places primarily of the Sacramento
region. I feel that an artist can find what interests him/her to paint through
an observation of ones immediate environment. One can only create through a
subjective way what one sees. With color I can display an emotion for my subjects.
I can emphasize this feeling, through color, to create a personal embellishment
for the excitement and beauty life gives. Through some distortion of form I
can add a little more excitement to a piece. Bold outlines, I paint, set colors
apart to emphasize their individual importance and creates a synergy where
the
whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
