Born in Finland, Silja Talikka Lahtinen received a BA and MA from Helsinki University. She also attended Taideteoll Oppilaitos, Helsinki; Atlanta College of Art, GA; and Maryland Institute, College of Art, Maryland.

"All I ever wanted was to create the best painting. My instrument is myself and my style is what I am."

Lahtinen has exhibited in New York City as well as across the U.S., Finland and France. Recent exhibitions include: Rutgers National 94, Stedman Gallery at Rutgers University, Camden, NJ; The City of Atlanta Gallery at Chastain, Atlanta, GA; Spruill Art Center, Atlanta, GA 1994; Albany Museum of Art, Albany, GA 1994.; Telfair Museum of Art, Savannah, GA 1995; San Bernardino Museum, Inland Exhibition XXXI 1995; Rolling Stone Press, Printmakers Ren 1996, Atlanta, GA; Chattahoochee Valley Museum of Art, GA 1997.

In 1997 Lahtinen received the State of Georgia Award for Women in the Visual Arts.

Included in Who's Who in American Art 1995-1996, Guild Gallery 1994-1995, Burrough Index 1995, Print World Directory 1998; Strathmore's Who's Who 1998.
