Listed in American Artists, Who's Who in Design, Who's Who of American Women, and the Encyclopedia of Living Artists, IX, Anne L Dentler's prize-winning works have displayed her versatility of media, as she works in both wet and dry media. Her favorite is oil, but she has won awards in all. She believes her ability to choose her media to fit the painting's subject has helped her grow creatively. Her finished paintings have often defied the eye at discern exactly which medium has been used.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was exposed to art early in life by her father, who was a free-lance commercial artist. She received her education at Penn State University and McNeese University in Lake Charles, LA.
Dentler Has illustrated several books by various authors and has illustrated and written her own text on portrait painting entitled, Portraiture...in Plain Language. Voted "Outstanding Artist of the Year" by Gateway Foundation Inc, in 1988, her work has won Best of Show in national regional and local competition. "I paint simply because I have a compulsion to duplicate my impressions of people and nature, hoping to bring the beauty, nostalgia and humor I experience into my interpretations. I begin in reverence, persevere in chaos, with determination to end in confidence."
